I need an awesome team – where do I find them?

The role of a CIO is as challenging as it has ever been

  • Budgets are tighter

  • Corporate targets are ever more stretching

  • New technologies, not least AI, are challenging our ways of thinking and working

  • And there is more than the odd sleepless night worrying whether we have done enough to keep the organisation safe

And you can’t do it alone

To be a successful CIO, you need the right team around you, operating at their best.

When a group is working as a team, when it’s in “flow”, when it is aligned to what it is striving to achieve – and it is clear about the WHY – then it can and will achieve great things.

If you have that team – CONGRATULATIONS – there is no need to read further.

For the rest of us, we need to know how to

  • Define and build the foundations so our team becomes fully engaged and operating at their full potential

  • Stem the flow of regretted leavers and build the right capacity and capability

  • Grow from good to awesome?

The good news

With the right energy and focus we can create a culture and environment for this to be possible.

It needs our best self as a leader and a manager

  • rallying our team behind a vision of a better future with a coordinated plan of attack, and

  • understanding and valuing the unique abilities of our individual team members and empowering them to do their best work.

What do we need to do

The diagram below summarises the key steps to building that strong foundation.
